Generator Replacement

Generator Replacement:




REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.

Removing The Drive Belt:




2. Loosen the pivot bolt and adjusting lock bolt.

Removing The Drive Belt:




3. Drive belt.
4. Generator connector from back of generator.
5. One nut and generator wire.
6. Two clips and wire harness.

Removing The Generator:




7. Two bolts, one nut and generator from generator mounting bracket.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Generator to mounting bracket; secure with one nut, one pivot bolt and one adjusting lock bolt (do not tighten fully).
2. Wire harness; secure with two clips.
3. Generator wire to generator; secure with one nut
Tighten
^ Generator lead wire nut to 9.8 N.m (86 lb. in.).
4. Generator connector to back of generator.
5. Drive belt to vehicle.
Adjust
^ Drive belt to obtain a 11.5 to 13.5 mm (0.45 inch to 0.53 inch) deflection with 10 kg (22 lbs.) pressure exerted when installing a used belt.
^ Drive belt to obtain a 7 to 9 mm (0.28 inch to 0.35 inch) deflection with 10 kg (22 lbs.) pressure exerted when installing a new belt.
Tighten
^ Generator pivot mounting bolt to 58 N.m (43 lb. ft.).
^ Adjusting lock bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb. ft).
6. Negative (-) battery cable.
Tighten
^ Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 N.m (11 lb. ft.).
