Clutch Switch: Service and Repair
Inspect
^ Tool Required:
- J 34029-A Digital Multimeter
1. For normal function of the CPP switch, the starting system should be disabled when the clutch pedal is not depressed. The starting system should be enable when the clutch pedal is depressed.
2. For continuity between the CPP switch terminals when the clutch pedal is depressed with J 34029-A digital multimeter. If continuity does not exist with the clutch pedal depressed, replace the CPP switch.
3. For continuity between the CPP switch terminals when the clutch pedal is not depressed with J 34029-A digital multimeter. If continuity exists when the clutch pedal is not depressed, replace the CPP switch.
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Battery negative (-) cable.
2. CPP switch electrical connector.
3. Front locknut.
4. CPP switch.
5. Rear locknut from CPP switch.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Rear locknut on CPP switch.
2. CPP switch.
3. Front locknut.
4. CPP switch electrical connector.
5. Battery negative (-) cable.
Inspect
- CPP switch clearance by measuring pedal stroke and using CPP switch clearance specifications. If CPP switch clearance does not meet specification, adjust the CPP switch.
^ Clutch pedal stroke is 125 to 145 mm (4.921 to 5.709 inch).
^ CPP switch clearance is 2.0 to 6.0 mm (0.079 to 0.236 inch).
Adjust
- CPP switch clearance by loosening the front locknut, depressing the clutch pedal fully adjusting the CPP switch clearance to meet specification, and tightening the front locknut.
