Temperature Sensor (Gauge): Service and Repair

NOTE: The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sending Unit is attached to the engine coolant inlet pipe which is located on the rear side of the engine.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain engine coolant from radiator. Drain only enough coolant so that the coolant level is below the ECT Sending Unit. See Cooling System.





2. ECT Sending Unit electrical Connector.
3. Unscrew the ECT Sending Unit counterclockwise and remove from the engine coolant inlet pipe.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Screw the ECT Sending Unit clockwise into the engine coolant inlet pipe. Tighten ECT Sending Unit to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
2. ECT Sending Unit electrical connector.
3. Fill radiator with engine coolant. See Cooling System.
