Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair
NOTE: When installing a new exhaust system component, always use new seals.REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
2. Two bolts from front pipe-to-Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) connection and TWC support bracket.
3. Two nuts and two bolts from TWC-to-resonator /intermediate pipe connection and TWC, with two seals, from vehicle.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. TWC, with new seals, to resonator/intermediate pipe; secure with two bolts and two nuts. Do not tighten fully.
2. TWC and TWC support bracket to front pipe; secure with two bolts. Do not tighten fully. Align all system components properly to prevent any noise or vibrations before tightening fasteners. Tighten
^ TWC-to-resonator/intermediate pipe nuts and bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
^ Front pipe-to-TWC bolts to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
3. Lower vehicle.
