Removal
1. Relieve fuel pressure. See Powertrain Management.2. Negative (-) battery cable.
3. The following hoses from the intake chamber:
- Vacuum sensor hose from fuel filter.
- Brake booster vacuum hose.
- Air conditioning (A/C) vacuum hoses from actuator (if equipped).
4. A/C actuator electrical connector (if Equipped)
5. Exhaust Gas Re-circulation Solenoid Vacuum (EGR SV) valve and vacuum modulator.
a. Disconnect EGR SV valve electrical connector.
b. Disconnect hose from the EGR valve pipe.
c. Remove one bolt and EGR SV valve, vacuum modulator and vacuum hose assembly
6. Engine wire clamp.
7. Two bolts and intake manifold brace.
8. Hose clamp and fuel return hose from pressure regulator.
9. Fuel inlet hose clamp bolt, one bolt, one nut and air pipe from intake manifold.
10. EGR valve.
a. Remove two nuts and EGR valve, with gasket.
b. Disconnect vacuum hoses from the Throttle Body (TB).
11. TB from intake manifold.
a. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
b. Loosen lock nut and adjusting nut and Remove accelerator cable from throttle lever.
c. Loosen lock nut and adjusting nut and Remove throttle cable from bracket (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles).
d. Remove two bolts and accelerator bracket.
e. Remove two bolts, two nuts and TB with gasket.
12. Two hose clamps and two Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hoses from cylinder head cover.
13. Vacuum hose from the pressure regulator.
14. Three bolts, two nuts and intake chamber cover with gasket.
15. Union bolt, two gaskets and fuel inlet pipe from fuel rail.
16. Four injector electrical connectors.
17. Two bolts and fuel rail with four injectors attached.
CAUTION: Be careful not to drop the injectors when removing fuel rail. Damage to injectors could result.
18. Four insulators and two spacers from cylinder head.
19. One bolt and two nuts and engine harness wire retainer.
20. Seven bolts, ground strap, four nuts and intake manifold with two gaskets.
