Installation

1. Intake manifold with two new gaskets; secure with four nuts, seven bolts and ground strap. Tighten:
- Intake manifold nuts (A) to 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
- Intake manifold bolts and nuts (B) to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
2. Engine wire harness retainer; secure with one bolt and two nuts. Tighten engine wire harness retainer bolt and nuts 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. Four new insulators and two spacers to cylinder head.
4. Fuel rail with injectors to intake manifold; secure with two bolts. Do not tighten fully. Inspect injectors for smooth rotation. If injectors do not rotate smoothly, the probable cause is incorrect seating of O-rings. Replace the O-rings and recheck. Make sure electrical connector is pointed upward after inspection is completed. Tighten fuel rail bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Injector electrical connectors.
6. Two new gaskets, fuel inlet pipe and union bolt. Tighten union bolt to 29 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
7. Intake chamber cover with new gasket; secure with two nuts and three bolts. Tighten intake chamber cover nuts and bolts to 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
8. Vacuum hose to the pressure regulator.
9. PCV hoses to cylinder head cover, secure with two hose clamps.
10. Throttle Body (TB) with new gasket to intake manifold; secure with two nuts and two bolts. Tighten TB nuts and bolts to 22 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
11. Accelerator bracket to TB; secure with two bolts. Tighten accelerator bracket bolts to 11 Nm (98 inch lbs.).
12. Throttle cable to bracket; secure with lock nut and adjusting nut (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles). Tighten throttle cable-to-bracket lock nut and adjusting nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
13. Accelerator cable to throttle lever; secure with lock nut and adjusting nut. Tighten accelerator cable-to-throttle lever lock nut and adjusting nut to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
14. Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
15. One new gasket and EGR valve to intake manifold; secure with two nuts. Tighten Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) valve-to-intake manifold nuts to 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.).
16. Air pipe to intake manifold; secure with fuel inlet hose clamp bolt, one bolt and one nut. Tighten air pipe-to-intake manifold bolt and nut to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
17. Fuel return hose to pressure regulator; secure with one hose clamp.
18. Intake manifold brace; secure with two bolts.
19. Engine wire clamp.
20. Exhaust Gas Re-circulation Solenoid Vacuum (EGR SV) valve and vacuum modulator.
a. Install EGR SV valve, vacuum modulator and vacuum hose assembly; secure with one bolt. Tighten EGR SV valve mounting bolt to 13 Nm (115 ft. lbs.).
b. Connect EGR SV valve connector.
c. Connect hose to the EGR valve pipe.
d. Two vacuum hoses to the TB.
21. A/C actuator electrical connector (if equipped).
22. The following hoses to the intake chamber:
- Vacuum sensor hose to fuel filter.
- Brake booster vacuum hose.
- A/C vacuum hoses to actuator (if equipped).
23. Negative (-) battery cable.
