Drive and Reverse Engagement

1. Turn ignition switch to ON.
2. Press brake pedal fully.
3. Ensure that the manual selector is in the Park (P) range.
4. Start engine.
5. Move the manual selector from the Park (P) range to the Reverse (R) range and observe reverse engagement.
6. Move the manual selector from Reverse (R) range to Drive (D) range and observe drive engagement.
7. Return the manual selector to the Park (P) range.
8. Turn ignition switch to the LOCK.

Evaluation
- At normal operating fluid temperature, 70 to 80°C (158 to 176°F), reverse engagement should take approximately 1.4 seconds. Drive engagement from reverse should take approximately 1.0 seconds. Reverse and drive engagements should be immediate but not harsh. If reverse and drive are slow to engage or seem too harsh, refer to Line Pressure Test.
