Manual Road Test Procedure

The manual road test will determine whether a problem lies in the electronic control system or the transaxle itself. This test should always be performed to distinguish a failure in the electronic control system from an internal transaxle failure.

1. Separate two halves of connector C108 (transaxle solenoid connector).
2. Perform the Manual Gear Range Selection portion of the Road Test Procedure.
3. Reconnect connector C108.
4. Repeat the Manual Gear Range Selection of the Road Test Procedure.

Evaluation
- Compare the results of both road tests with cad without connector C108 separated. If the transaxle operates normally with the electronic control system disabled, but malfunctions with the electronic control system connected, the problem lies in the electronic control system. Refer to the Powertrain On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Driveablity and Emissions. If the transaxle is still malfunctioning with the electronic control system disabled, the problem lies within the transaxle itself. Refer to Hydraulic/Mechanical Diagnosis.
