Line Pressure Check
^ Tools Required:- J 35752 Oil Pressure Gage Adapter
- J 21867 Universal Pressure Gage Set
Important
- This test should only be performed at a normal operating fluid temperature of 70 to 80°C (158 to 176°F).
1. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
2. Remove left splash shield.
3. Remove the pressure tap bolt from the front of the transaxle.
4. Install J 35752 into the line pressure tap at the rear of the transaxle.
5. Install J 21867 into J 35752.
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Route J 21867 hose over the front fender and through the driver's window so that it can be read from the passenger compartment.
8. Connect scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC) and display engine rpm.
9. Apply parking brake and block vehicle wheels.
10. Press brake pedal fully and start engine.
CAUTION: For Steps 11 through 14, procedures for testing line pressure at idle and stall speeds, the brake pedal must be fully pressed throughout the measurement procedure. Failure to do so could result in personal injury and/or properly damage.
11. Place manual selector in Drive (D) range and record line pressure at idle speed (800 to 900 rpm).
NOTICE: DO NOT run engine at stall speed for more than five seconds continuously or engine oil and transaxle fluid temperatures may become excessively high.
12. Press accelerator pedal fully (wide open throttle) and record line pressure in Drive (D) range at stall speed (2000 to 2500 rpm). Release accelerator pedal.
13. Keeping brake pedal fully pressed, place selector lever in Reverse (R) range and record line pressure at idle speed (800 to 900 rpm).
14. Press accelerator pedal fully (wide open throttle) and record line pressure in Reverse (R) range at stall speed (2000 to 2500 rpm). Release accelerator pedal.
15. Place the selector lever in Park (P) range and turn ignition switch to LOCK.
16. Remove scan tool from the vehicle.
17. Remove J 21867 from the passenger compartment.
18. Information.
19. Remove J 21867 from J 35752.
20. Remove J 35752 from the line pressure tap at the rear of the transaxle.
21. Install the line pressure tap bolt into the line pressure tap at the rear of the transaxle.
Tighten
- Line pressure tap bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb. in.).
22. Install the left splash shield.
23. Lower vehicle.
Evaluation
Compare line pressure test results with the Line Pressure Test Results. If line pressure is not as specified, refer to the Line Pressure Test Diagnosis in the image, for further evaluation.
