Flexplate/Torque Converter Vibration Test
INSPECT
1. With shift selector lever in "P" position, start engine.
2. With engine at idle, note any abnormal vibration.
3. Shift selector lever to "N" and note any abnormal vibration.
4. Return shift selector lever to "P" position and shut off engine.
5. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
6. Remove flywheel cover.
7. Remove flywheel-to-torque converter attaching bolts by engaging a standard flat-bladed screwdriver with the flywheel ring gear through the slot provided in the bottom of the transaxle case.
8. Rotate torque converter 120 degrees (1/3 turn).
9. Install flywheel-to-torque Converter attaching bolts.
Tighten
- Flywheel-to-torque converter bolts to 19 N.m (14 lb ft.).
10. Install flywheel cover.
Tighten
- Flywheel cover bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
11. Lower vehicle.
12. With shift selector lever in "P" position, start engine.
13. If any abnormal vibration still exists, repeat this procedure until the best possible balance is obtained. For more information on torque converter evaluation, refer to Automatic Transaxle Diagnosis.
