Shift Solenoid #2
The shift solenoid # 2 is located on the valve body assembly and is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). When energized and de-energized by the PCM, the 2nd brake solenoid controls delivery of line pressure to the 1-2 shift valve. When the shift solenoid # 2 is de-energized, the 1-2 shift valve fluid exhaust passage is closed. When the passage is closed, line pressure is applied to the 1-2 shift valve causing a 1-2 gear shift. During a 2-1 downshift, the shift solenoid # 2 is energized, which opens the 1-2 shift valve fluid exhaust passage. Spring pressure then returns the 1-2 shift valve to its original position.
