Installation
INSTALLATION
1. Lower engine and transaxle into vehicle, but do not remove lifting device. Ensure sufficient clearance around engine before fitting into engine compartment.
2. Left (transaxle) mount.
3. Right side engine mount.
4. Rear engine mount.
5. Remove engine lifting device and install a Universal Support Fixture.
6. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
7. Torque rod (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles). See Steering and Suspension.
8. P/S hoses to power steering pump. See Steering and Suspension.
9. A/C compressor to compressor bracket. See Heating and Air Conditioning.
10. Drive axles (left and right) to transaxle. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
11. Front pipe/catalytic converter assembly to resonator/center pipe; secure with two nuts. Do not tighten fully.
12. Front/pipe catalytic converter assembly to vehicle; support catalytic converter with hanger.
13. Front pipe/catalytic converter assembly to exhaust manifold; secure with two bolts. Tighten
- Exhaust manifold-to-front pipe/catalytic converter bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
- Resonator/muffler/tail pipe-to-front pipe/ catalytic converter nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
14. Gearshift control shaft and extension rod to transaxle (manual transaxle equipped vehicles).
15. Lower vehicle.
16. Remove Universal Support Fixture and Engine Support Fixture Adapters.
17. Fuel return and fuel feel hoses to throttle body.
18. Heater inlet and outlet hoses.
19. The following electrical connections: See Powertrain Management.
- Coolant temperature gage sensor connector.
- Throttle position sensor connector.
- EGR solenoid vacuum valve.
- EGR by-pass valve.
- ISC solenoid valve connector.
- Ground wires to intake manifold.
- Oxygen sensor connector.
- Fuel injector connector.
- MAP sensor connector.
- P/S pump pressure switch.
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor connector.
- Oil pressure switch connector.
- Generator connectors.
- A/C compressor pressure switch.
- Starter solenoid connectors.
- Backup lamp switch.
- Vehicle speed sensor connector.
- Negative (-) battery cable to transaxle.
- Direct clutch and second brake solenoids.
- All of the above are in one wiring hamess. Secure wiring harness in its clamps.
20. The following vacuum hoses:
- Front and rear canister purge hoses to intake manifold.
- canister hose to canister pipe.
- Pressure sensor hose to intake.
- Brake booster hose to intake manifold.
- Idle speed control hose to throttle body.
21. The following cables:
- Accelerator cable to throttle body.
- Clutch cable to transaxle.
- Shift select cable and TV cable to transaxle.
- Speedometer cable to transaxle.
22. Radiator with cooling fan. See Cooling System.
23. Air cleaner assembly. See Powertrain Management.
24. Hood assembly. See Body and Frame.
25. Refill transaxle as necessary. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
26. Refill engine with engine oil.
27. Refill cooling system. See Cooling System.
28. Adjust
