Manual Steering

Rack and pinion steering provides both simplicity and excellent control and road feel. As the steering wheel is turned, this rotary motion is transmitted to the pinion via the steering shaft. The pinion gear teeth mesh with those on the rack converting the rotary motion of the steering wheel into linear motion. Tie rods are fastened to each end of the rack and extend to the tie rods ends and the right and left steering knuckles, which turn the wheels in the desired direction.
