On-Vehicle Service
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT1. Negative (-) battery cable.
CAUTION: Failure to observe Step 1 may result In a serious personal injury. If a tool Is shorted at the generator lead, the tool will become hot enough to cause a serious burn.
2. Rubber protector, nut and electrical connector from generator B terminal.
3. Drive belt adjuster bolt.
4. Drive belt.
5. Generator mounting bolt and nut.
6. Generator.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Generator; secure with mounting bolt and nut.
Tighten
^ Generator mounting bolt and nut to 23 N.m (17 lb. ft).
2. Drive belt.
Adjust
Drive Belt Tension:
^ Drive belt to obtain a 6 to 8 mm (0.24 inch to 0.31 inch) deflection with 10 kg (22 lbs.) pressure exerted when reinstalling a used belt.
^ Drive belt to obtain a 5 to 7 mm (0.20 inch to 0.27 inch) deflection with 10 kg (22 lbs.) pressure exerted when reinstalling a new belt.
Tighten
^ Drive belt adjuster bolt to 23 N.m (17 lb. ft).
3. Electrical connector to generator B terminal; secure with one nut and rubber protector.
Tighten
^ Electrical connector nut to 8 N.m (71 lb. in.).
4. Negative (-) battery cable.
Tighten
^ Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal to 5.5 N.m (48.68 lb. in).
