Fuel Tank Pressure Release Valve: Service and Repair
Description:
WARNING: Do not suck air through the Tank Pressure Control Valve tubes or hoses. The fuel vapor inside the Tank Pressure Control Valve is harmful.
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the two clamps and the two fuel vapor hoses from the Tank Pressure Control valve.
2. Remove the Tank Pressure Control valve from the engine compartment (next to EVAP canister).
Inspection Procedure
1. Connect a length of hose to the fuel tank side (BLACK side) of the Tank Pressure Control valve.
2. Blow hard into the hose. Air should pass smoothly through the valve from the fuel tank side (BLACK side) to the canister side (ORANGE side) when blown hard.
3. Remove the hose from the fuel tank side (BLACK side) and connect it to the canister side (ORANGE side) of the Tank Pressure Control Valve.
4. Blow easily into the hose. Air should pass smoothly through the valve from the canister side (ORANGE side) to fuel tank side (BLACK side) even when blown softly.
- Replace the Tank Pressure Control valve if it does not pass the above tests.
Installation Procedure
1. Connect the two fuel vapor hoses (located near the EVAP canister in the engine compartment) to the Tank Pressure Control valve.
2. Secure the two fuel vapor hoses with two clamps.
