EGR Valve: Service and Repair

Description:

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve.
3. Remove the two bolts from the EGR valve to the intake manifold.
4. Remove the EGR valve and gasket from the intake manifold.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the EGR valve and a new gasket to the intake manifold.
2. Secure the EGR valve with two bolts. Tighten the EGR valve bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb. ft.).
3. Connect the two vacuum hoses to the EGR valve.
4. Connect the negative (-) battery cable. Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative battery terminal retainer to 5.5 Nm (4 lb. ft.).
