EGR Electronic Vacuum Regulator Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

J 39200 Digital Multimeter

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid vacuum valve.
2. Disconnect the EGR solenoid vacuum valve electrical connector.

MEASURE
^ Measure the resistance of the EGR solenoid vacuum valve terminals (valve side). The resistance should be 28-36 ohms at 20°C (68°F).
^ Replace the EGR solenoid vacuum valve If the resistance is not within the correct specification.

3. Blow air into tube A. The air should exhaust through tube B, and not through the filter.
4. Connect battery voltage to the EGR solenoid vacuum valve.
5. Blow air into tube A. The air should exhaust from the filter and not from tube B.
- Replace the EGR solenoid vacuum valve if the valve does not perform satisfactorily.
6. Connect the EGR solenoid vacuum valve electrical connector.
7. Connect the two vacuum hoses to the EGR solenoid vacuum valve.
