Compressor Shaft Seal: Service and Repair

Tools Required:
J 41387 Compressor Shaft Seal Remover
J 36049 Compressor Shaft Seal Protector

Remove or Disconnect

1. Clutch assembly.
2. Oil felt and retainer from compressor drive shaft bore, using flat screwdriver.
3. Key from drive shaft.
4. Seal snap ring, using snap ring pliers.
5. Insert tool J 41387 into seal.
6. Turn tool J 41387 until mailing contact with seal notches.
7. Pull seal away from compressor. Discard seal.

Install or Connect

1. Slide tool J 36049 into compressor shaft.
2. Lubricate new seal with PAG oil.
3. Engage tool J 41387 to seal notches.
4. Slide seal into compressor drive shaft.
5. New seal snap ring, using snap ring pliers.
6. Key into drive shaft groove.
7. New oil felt and retainer inside the bore.
8. Clutch Assembly.
