Vacuum Test

1. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Make sure that the engine idle speed is 800 to 900 rpm.
2. Stop engine and install a vacuum gage between the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and the throttle body (TB).
3. Disconnect the MAP sensor vacuum hose from the TB.
4. Using a three-way vacuum hose joint and two pieces of vacuum hose, connect a vacuum gage between the MAP sensor and the TB (Figure 5).
5. Start and run engine at idle.

Measure
- Engine vacuum pressure.
- Standard vacuum pressure is 52.9 to 66.3 kPa (15.7 to 19.7 in. Hg) at 800 to 900 rpm.

6. Stop engine and remove the vacuum gage, three-way joint and extra vacuum hoses.
7. Reconnect the MAP sensor vacuum hose to the TB.
