Installation

INSTALLATION
1. Lower engine and transaxle into vehicle, but do not remove lifting device. Ensure sufficient clearance around engine before fitting into engine compartment.
2. Left (transaxle) mount. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
3. Right side engine mount.
4. Rear engine mount.
5. Remove lifting device.
6. Support engine using a Universal Support Fixture with an Engine Support Fixture Adapters.
7. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
8. Torque rod (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles).
9. Drive axles (left and right) to transaxle. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
10. Front pipe/TWC assembly to resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly; secure with two nuts. Do not tighten fully.
11. Front pipe/TWC assembly to vehicle, support TWC with hanger.
12. Front pipe/TWC assembly to exhaust manifold; secure with two bolts. Tighten
- Exhaust manifold-to-front pipe/TWC bolts to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
- Two resonator/muffler/tail pipe-to-front pipe/TWC nuts to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).
13. Gearshift control shaft and extension rod to transaxle (manual transaxle equipped vehicles). See Transmission and Drivetrain.
14. Lower vehicle.
15. Remove the Universal Support Fixture and the Engine Support Fixture Adapters.
16. Fuel return and fuel feel hoses to throttle body.
17. Heater inlet and outlet hoses.
18. The following electrical connectors:
- ECT sensor electrical connector.
- Coolant temperature sending unit connector.
- TP sensor electrical connector.
- EGR solenoid vacuum valve electrical connector.
- IAC valve or ISC motor electrical connector.
- Ground wires to intake manifold.
- HO2SI electrical connector.
- TBI unit electrical connector.
- MAP sensor electrical connector.
- Oil pressure switch electrical connector.
- EFE heater electrical connector (if equipped).
- Generator electrical connectors.
- Starter solenoid electrical connectors.
- A/C compressor pressure switch electrical connector.
19. Secure wiring harness to retaining clamps.
20. The following vacuum hoses:
- EVAP canister hose to EVAP canister pipe.
- MAP sensor hose to intake manifold or TB.
- Brake booster hose to intake manifold.
- IAC valve hose to TBI unit.
21. The following cables:
- Accelerator cable to throttle body.
- Clutch cable to transaxle.
- Shift select cable and TV cable to transaxle.
- Speedometer cable to transaxle.
22. Radiator with cooling fan. See Cooling System.
23. ACL. See Powertrain Management.
24. Hood assembly. See Body and Frame.
25. Refill transaxle as necessary. See Transmission and Drivetrain.
26. Refill engine with engine oil.
27. A/C compressor to compressor bracket and adjust belt tension. See Heating and Air Conditioning.
28. Refill cooling system. See Cooling System.

NOTE: Adjust
- Clutch pedal free travel (manual transaxle equipped vehicles). See Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Shift select cable and TV cable (automatic transaxle equipped vehicles). See Transmission and Drivetrain.
- Accelerator cable free play. See Powertrain Management.

29. Negative (-) battery cable.
30. Upon completion of installation, verify that there is not a fuel leak, water leak, or exhaust gas leak at each connection. After completing that inspection, check oil pressure by running engine.
