2. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
3. Place a drain pan beneath engine oil pan to catch escaping oil.
4. Engine oil pan drain plug and gasket allowing engine oil to drain.
5. Two bolts and front pipe/Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) assembly from exhaust manifold.
6. Front pipe/TWC assembly from resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly.
7. Hanger supporting TWC and remove front pipe/TWC assembly from vehicle.
8. Crankshaft position sensor, one bolt.
9. Fourteen engine oil pan bolts and two nuts and engine oil pan from vehicle.
10. Oil pump strainer bracket bolt, oil pump strainer bolt and oil pump strainer from cylinder block.
11. Oil pump strainer seal. Clean inside of engine oil pan and oil pump strainer screen and mating surfaces of engine oil pan and cylinder block.
INSTALLATION
1. Oil pump strainer with new oil pump strainer seal to cylinder block; secure with oil pump strainer bolt first and then oil pump strainer bracket bolt. Tighten oil pump strainer bolt first and then oil pump strainer bracket bolt to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
2. Apply a continuous bead of GM P/N 12346240 or equivalent, to engine oil pan mating surface.
3. Engine oil pan to cylinder block, secure with two nuts and fourteen bolts. Tighten engine oil pan nuts and bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.) starting at the center and working outward.
4. Crankshaft position sensor.
5. New gasket and engine oil drain plug. Tighten engine oil drain plug to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
6. New front pipe/TWC assembly seal to assembly.
7. Front pipe/TWC assembly, with new seal, to exhaust manifold; secure with two bolts. Do not tighten fully.
8. Resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly gasket to assembly.
9. Resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly to front pipe/TWC assembly; secure with two nuts.
10. Front pipe/TWC assembly to vehicle, support TWC with hanger. Tighten
- Front pipe/TWC assembly-to-exhaust manifold bolts to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
- Resonator/muffler/tail pipe assembly-to-front pipe/TWC assembly nuts to 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.).
11. Lower vehicle.
12. Refill engine oil to specifications.
13. Negative (-) battery cable.
14. Upon completion of installation, start engine and check exhaust system for exhaust leaks. After completing that inspection, check oil pressure.
