Piston Pin: Service and Repair
TOOL REQUIRED- J 24086-B Piston Pin Remover/Installer Kit
REMOVAL
1. Compression ring(s) and oil ring from piston using a ring expander.
2. Mount the piston and connecting rod into a Piston Pin Remover/Installer Kit with the arrow mark on the piston head facing up.
3. Piston pin from connecting rod using a Piston Pin Remover/Installer Kit.
INSTALLATION
1.Apply engine oil to piston pin holes in piston and connecting rod.
2. Connecting rod to piston.
3. Piston pin to piston and connecting rod using Piston Pin Remover/Installer Kit.
NOTE: Before installing pin to piston, set Piston Pin Remover/Installer Kit to E-4 for proper pin installation.
4. Place the piston in Piston Pin Remover/Installer Kit so the arrow mark on piston head faces up.
