Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Air Cleaner (ACL). See Powertrain Management.
3. Air conditioner compressor suction pipe bracket (if equipped). See Heating and Air Conditioning.
4. Raise and suitably support vehicle.





5. Six clips and right side splash shield.
6. Air conditioner compressor drive belt (if equipped) by releasing tensioner pulley and removing belt from crankshaft and compressor pulleys.
7. Two bolts and lower generator cover plate.
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Loosen adjusting bolt on the upper generator mounting bracket and remove coolant pump/generator drive belt from vehicle.





10. Five crankshaft pulley bolts and crankshaft pulley from vehicle. It is not necessary to loosen crankshaft timing gear bolt at the center.

INSTALLATION





1. Crankshaft pulley. Fit pin hole on pulley to the dowel pin on crankshaft timing gear. Secure with five crankshaft pulley bolts. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
2. Coolant pump/generator drive belt to crankshaft, coolant pump and generator pulleys.
3. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
4. Lower generator cover plate, secure with two bolts. Tighten lower generator cover bolts to 5.5 Nm (49 inch lbs.).
5. Air conditioner compressor drive belt (if equipped) by releasing tensioner pulley and installing belt to crankshaft and compressor pulleys.
6. Right side splash shield, secure with six clips.
7. Lower vehicle. Adjust air conditioner compressor drive belt tension to specifications. Adjust coolant pump/generator drive belt tension to specifications. Tighten upper generator adjustment bolt to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
8. Air conditioner compressor suction pipe bracket (if equipped). See Heating and Air Conditioning.
9. Install Air Cleaner (ACL).
10. Negative (-) battery cable.
