EFE Heater: Service and Repair

Description:






REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit. Refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction / Throttle Body / Service and Repair. Service and Repair
3. Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) heater electrical connector.
4. EFE heater and gasket from intake manifold.

INSPECT
EFE heater and insulator for cracks, corrosion or other damage. Replace as necessary.

MEASURE
EFE Heater resistance 0.5 to 3.0 ohms at 20°C (68°F). If not within specified range, replace.

CLEAN
EFE heater, intake manifold and TBI unit mating surfaces.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. EFE heater with new gasket to intake manifold.
2. EFE heater electrical connector.
3. TBI unit with new gasket to EFE heater.
4. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten Negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal.
