Distributor Replacement

Distributor Electrical Connectors:




Distributor Mounting Bolts:






DISTRIBUTOR REPLACEMENT


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Plastic lock retainers at distributor cap from secondary (spark plug) wire(s).
3. Secondary (spark plug) wire(s) from distributor cap.
4. Three bolts and distributor cap from distributor housing.
5. Distributor electrical connector(s).
^ Mark the position of the distributor housing on the engine.
^ Mark the rotor position on the distributor housing.
6. Two bolts and distributor from cylinder head.
7. O-ring from distributor housing.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New O-ring to distributor housing.
2. Distributor to cylinder head; secure with two bolts (do not tighten fully). Match the marks made on the engine during removal. Be certain that the rotor position also matches the mark on the distributor housing made during removal.
3. Distributor electrical connectors C1 and C2.
4. Distributor cap to distributor housing; secure with three bolts. Tighten distributor cap bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb. in.).
5. Secondary (spark plug) wire(s) to distributor cap.
6. Plastic lock retainers at distributor cap to secondary (spark plug) wire(s).
7. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft.).
^ Set ignition timing. Refer to Ignition Timing Adjustment under Adjustments. Ignition Timing
