Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThis vehicle is equipped with a Warm Up Three Way Catalytic Converter (WU TWC). The catalytic converter is an emission control device added to the exhaust system on gasoline engines to reduce pollutants from the exhaust gas stream.
WARNING: Prolonged operation with a misfiring or flooded engine may cause the WU TWC to overheat. This could cause damage to either the catalyst itself or the operating vehicle and possible personal injury.
CAUTION:
^ When jacking or lifting the vehicle from frame side rails, be certain that the lift pads do not contact the catalytic converter; damage to the converter may result.
^ The catalytic converter requires the use of unleaded fuel only, or damage to the catalyst may result.
SERVICE NOTE
The catalyst is not serviceable; the WU TWC must be replaced if problems occur.
