Spark Plug: Service and Repair
Spark Plug Removal:
Spark Plug Gap:
SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Secondary (spark plug) wire(s) from spark plug(s).
3. Spark plug(s) from cylinder head.
INSPECT
Spark plug(s) for electrode wear, carbon deposits and insulator damage. Refer to Testing and Inspection / Procedures under Spark Plugs.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
IMPORTANT:
^ This vehicle should be serviced with:
NGK: BK5EYA
Nippondenso: K16R-U
^ Set spark plug gap to 0.80 mm (0.031 in.).
1. Spark plug(s) to cylinder head. Tighten spark plug to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
2. Secondary (spark plug) wire(s) to spark plug(s).
3. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
