Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System - Typical:

WARM UP THREE WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT

^ Raise and suitably support vehicle.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Four nuts and two Warm Up Three Way Catalytic Converter (WU TWC) heat insulators from WU TWC.
2. Two bolts, two nuts and WU TWC, with seal, from exhaust manifold.
3. Two bolts, two nuts and WU TWC, with seal, from front pipe.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. WU TWC, with new seal, to front pipe; secure with two bolts and two nuts. Do not tighten fully.
2. WU TWC, with new seal, to exhaust manifold; secure with two bolts and two nuts.

ADJUST
Align all system components properly to prevent any noise or vibrations before tightening fasteners.

TIGHTEN
1. WU TWC-to-front pipe nuts and bolts to 62 Nm (46 lb.ft.).
2. WU TWC-to-exhaust manifold nuts and bolts to 29 Nm (22 lb.ft.).
3. Two WU TWC heat insulators to WU TWC; secure with four nuts.
4. WU TWC heat shield nuts to 5.4 Nm (48 lb.in.).
^ Lower vehicle.
