Distributor Replacement
DISTRIBUTOR REPLACEMENT PROCEDUREREMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative (-) battery cable.
2. Distributor electrical connector.
3. Two screws and distributor cap from distributor.
Distributor Marking For Removal:
^ Mark the distributor housing position on the cylinder head.
Distributor Flange Bolts:
4. Two distributor flange bolts and distributor housing from cylinder head.
Distributor Coupling And Housing Alignment Marks:
^ Mark the distributor coupling position on the distributor housing.
INSPECT
Distributor cap and rotor for cracks, terminal corrosion and wear; replace as necessary.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Distributor housing to cylinder head. Match the marks made on the cylinder head and distributor housing during removal. Also match the distributor coupling and housing alignment marks.
2. Two distributor flange bolts. Do not tighten fully.
3. New distributor cap seal to distributor cap.
4. Distributor cap to distributor; secure with two screws.
5. Distributor electrical connector.
6. Negative (-) battery cable. Tighten negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
ADJUST
Set ignition timing. Refer to Ignition System / Adjustments. Ignition Timing
