General System Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The function of the fuel metering system is to deliver the correct amount of fuel to the engine under all operating conditions. Fuel is delivered by the fuel injector, in the Throttle Body Fuel Injection (TBI) unit, which is controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM) based on several important engine operation parameters. These parameters include engine speed, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP), Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), Throttle Position (TP), and exhaust oxygen content.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS
The fuel metering system consists of the air/fuel delivery system and the electronic control system. Fuel Delivery and Air Induction covers the air/fuel delivery system. For information on the electronic control system, refer to Computers and Control Systems. Computers and Control Systems
