Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Fig. 12 Oil Pan Assembly:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain oil pan.
3. Remove flywheel dust cover.
4. Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold.
5. Remove oil pan bolts and pan, Fig. 12 .
6. Remove oil pump screen.
7. Reverse procedure to install, ensuring to install new gasket. Apply continuous bead of silicon type sealer to oil pan flange inside bolt holes. When tightening oil pan attaching bolts, start at center and working outward. Tighten bolts to specifications.
