Front Disc Brakes

Replace brake pads on one wheel at a time to prevent opposite side caliper piston from being forced out of bore.

REMOVAL
1. Remove caliper, refer to Brake Caliper/Removal/Installation, leaving brake hose connected, and secure caliper aside.
2. Remove two anti-rattle clips, then the brake pads, Fig. 1.
3. Remove pad wear indicator plates and anti-squeal shims.
4. Remove support plates.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new support plates on caliper mounting bracket.
2. Install new wear indicators and anti-squeal shims on each pad, Fig. 1, then position pads in caliper mounting bracket. Ensure arrow on wear indicator is pointing in rotating direction of rotor.
3. Install anti-rattle springs.
4. Seat piston in caliper bore, then install caliper and mounting bolts,and torque bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
5. Refill master cylinder and bleed brakes as needed.
