GENERATOR REPLACEMENT - VIN 8





Remove or Disconnect

1. Negative (-) battery cable.

2. Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

3. Five bolts and heat shield from exhaust manifold. Rotate tensioner to release tension on serpentine drive belt and set serpentine drive belt aside.

4. Two nuts and wiring harness retainer from power steering pump.

5. Three bolts, electrical connector and power steering pump assembly from vehicle.

6. Generator electrical connector (Figure 3).

7. One nut and positive (+) battery terrninal wire from generator (Figure 3).

8. One upper bolt from generator.

9. Two bolts and upper generator mounting bracket (Figure 3).

- Raise and suitably support vehicle.

10. Seven screws and rightside splash shield from vehicle.

11. One bolt and one nut from generator.

- Lower vehicle.

12. Generator from vehicle.

Install or Connect

1. Generator to vehicle.

- Raise and suitably support vehicle.

2. One bolt and nut to generator. Do not tighten fully.

- Lower vehicle.

3. Upper generator mounting bracket to vehicle; secure with two bolts.

- Tighten Generator upper mounting bracket bolts to 33 N.m. (24 lb.ft.).

4. One upper bolt to generator.

- Tighten generator upper bolt to 33 N.m. (24 lb.ft.).

5. Positive (+) battery terminal wire to generator; secure with one nut.

- Tighten positive (+) battery terminal wire nut to 15 N.m. (11 lb.ft.).

6. Generator electrical connector.

7. Electrical connector to power steering pump assembly and assembly to vehicle; secure with three bolts.

- Tighten power steering pump assembly mounting bolts to 30 N.m. (22 lb.ft.).





8. Wiring harness retainer to power steering pump; secure with two nuts.

- Tighten wiring harness retainer nuts to 10 N.m. (89 lb.in.).

- Rotate tensioner and install serpentine belt.

9. Heat shield to exhaust manifold; secure with five bolts.

- Tighten heat shield bolts to 15 N.m. (11 lb.ft.).

10. HO2S electrical connector.

- Raise and suitably support vehicle.

- Tighten generator lower bolt and nut to 33 N.m. (24 lb.ft.).

11. Right-side splash shield; secure with seven screws.

- Lower vehicle.

12. Negative (-) battery cable.


- Tighten negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 N.m. (11 lb.ft.).
