Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. Start and run the engine until normal operating temperature has been attained.

2. Turn ignition and all electrical accessories "OFF."

ALDL Connector Location:

3. Use a jumper wire connected between terminals "1" and "3" of the white 3-pin DLC connector. This will disable the ECM controlled spark advance system.

Timing Mark:

4. Start engine with the accelerator depressed . Allow the idle to to stabilize then aim timing light at timing mark. The white notch on the crankshaft pulley should line up with the 10 ° increment on the timing cover. If adjustment is necessary loosen the distributor mounting bolt. While observing the timing mark, slowly rotate distributor until specified timing is obtained. tighten distributor mounting bolt and re-check timing.

5. Remove jumper wire from DLC connector.

6. Turn ignition switch "OFF" and remove timing light.
