Powertrain Controls - ECM/PCM
Code Chart 51:
Throttle Position Switch Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The ECM receives a signal from the neutral start switch, the A/C amplifier and the idle contacts of the throttle position sensor. The ECM uses these input signals to determine the condition of the circuits, when the check connector terminals "TE1" and "E1" are jumpered together. When the check connector terminals are jumpered with the engine running and no Code 51 is indicated, one or more of the input signals is not received by the ECM and an inspection of all three circuits is required.
TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. This checks for a problem with the ignition switch in "ON."
2. This checks for the idle throttle signal at the ECM.
3. This checks for a faulty BLU wire, ECM or a misadjusted or faulty throttle position switch.
4. This checks if the park/neutral system is functioning normally.
5. This checks for an open BLK/WHT wire or a faulty ECM.
6. This checks if the A/C system is functioning normally.
