DTC 14
Code Chart 14:
Ignition Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
The igniter receives a 5.0 volt signal from terminal IGF of the ECM and the ECM receives a 0.7 volt input from the igniter. If one or both of these signals are not present four successive times during cranking, Code 14 will set. The ECM uses this signal to pulse the Injector.
TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. Verifies 5.0 volt signal from the ECM.
2. Verifies 0.1 to 0.15 volt signal from the ECM.
3. Checks for power to distributor.
4. Checks for a faulty ignition coil or a faulty igniter.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:
An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation. Inspect ECM harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal to wire connection and damaged harness.
