System Check - Vacuum System

Before connecting the vacuum pump to the refrigeration system, the low-pressure gage should be connected to the pump and the pump should be run to determine the vacuum capability of the pump. If the pump is unable to produce a vacuum of at least 94.6 kPa (28 inches) Hg, the vacuum system should be checked for leaks. If no leaks are found, the vacuum pump may require repair.
