No Econo Mode With (Chart C-8-3)

Chart C-8-3:

ECONO Light Circuit:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:

The economy switch has two positions, normal and economy. When in the normal mode, the ECU provides B+ to solenoid "A" in the transaxle. When in economy mode, the switch pulls B+ low and the ECU supplies B+ for solenoid "B" in the transaxle. The ECU also provides ground to illuminate the economy light while in the economy mode.

TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to the circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.

1. With economy switch in normal mode, there should be B+ on PNK/GRN wire.

2. With ECONO switch in economy mode, there should be less than 1.0 volt on PNK/GRN wire.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:

An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation. Inspect ECU harness connector for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal to wire connection and damaged harness.
