Transaxle Control System
CODE 21 ENGINE THROTTLE DUTY SIGNALCode Chart 21:
Throttle Position Sensor Circuit:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
This signal is provided by the ECM to the automatic transaxle ECU, allowing the ECU to detect the throttle opening rate. This throttle opening rate determines the shift points of the transaxle.
TEST DESCRIPTION: Numbers below refer to the circled numbers on the diagnostic chart.
1. Verifies that approximately 6 to 7 volts is present at the ORN/BLU wire.
2. This test checks that the voltage drops below 1.0 volt as the throttle is depressed.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS:
An intermittent may be caused by a poor connection, rubbed through wire insulation or a wire broken inside the insulation. Inspect the ECM and ECU harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, poor terminal to wire connection and damaged harness.
