Ignition Cable: Testing and Inspection
Measuring Spark Plug Wire Resistance:
TOOLS REQUIRED (or equivalents)
^ J-34029-A, Digital multimeter.
INSPECTION
Inspect the spark plug wires for broken insulation, and the distributor cap for carbon tracking, arcing or cracks. Inspect the spark plug terminals for corrosion or damage. Replace spark plug(s), or wires and the distributor cap if any of these conditions are discovered.
MEASUREMENT
Measure the resistance of each spark plug wire and the coil wire with a J-34029-A digital multimeter. If the resistance is not to to 22 ohms/meter (3 to 6.5 ohms/foot), replace the spark plug wire.
