Selector Lever Cable and Bracket
Removal
All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Jacking and Lifting Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever.
3. Remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket and discard the selector lever cable retaining clip.
Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine
4. Detach the Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) connector from the cable routing retainer.
All vehicles
5. Detach the cable routing retainer from the transmission case.
6. Remove the selector lever cable from the vehicle.
1. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the manual control lever.
2. Remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket.
7. Remove the 2 selector lever cable bracket bolts from the transmission and remove the bracket.
Installation
All vehicles
1. Install the selector lever cable bracket and 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
2. Install the selector lever cable.
1. Install the selector lever cable into the selector lever cable bracket.
2. Connect the selector lever cable to the manual control lever.
3. Attach the cable routing retainer to the transmission case.
Vehicles equipped with a 5.0L (4V) engine
4. Attach the CMS connector to the cable routing retainer.
All vehicles
5. NOTE: It is necessary to install a new plastic selector lever cable retaining clip prior to installation.
Install the selector lever cable into the selector lever cable bracket.
6. Connect the selector lever cable to the selector lever.
7. Adjust the selector lever cable. For additional information, refer to Selector Lever Cable Adjustment Adjustments.
