Battery Cables - 5.4L (4V)
Removal and Installation
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.
2. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery Disconnect Battery Disconnect.
3. Position the generator B+ terminal cover aside, remove the nut and position the generator harness B+ terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
4. Disconnect the generator harness electrical connector.
5. Disconnect the Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) switch electrical connector.
6. Detach the 2 battery cable harness locators from the oil filter adapter.
7. Remove the nut and the battery cable harness bracket from the oil pan, then position the battery cable harness aside.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
8. Detach the battery cable harness locator from the engine oil pan.
9. Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
10. Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid positive cable terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
11. Detach the starter solenoid wire harness locator from the A/C compressor.
12. Remove the bolt and position the battery ground cable body terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
13. Disconnect the battery cable in-line harness connector from the engine wiring harness connector.
14. Detach the battery cable harness locator from the engine.
15. Detach the battery cable harness locator from the battery tray.
16. Detach the Battery Junction Box (BJB) battery cable harness locator from the RH strut tower.
17. Open the BJB cover, remove the nut and position the BJB wiring harness terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
18. Remove the battery cables.
19. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
