Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair




Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud - 5.4L (4V)









All Engines









1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

2. Drain the Supercharger (SC) cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.

3. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

4. Remove the ACL inlet pipe from the cooling fan and shroud stud bolt.

5. Disconnect the upper SC degas bottle hose and position it aside.

6. Remove the bolt and position aside the SC degas bottle.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

7. Disconnect the upper degas bottle hose and position it aside.

8. Remove the 2 bolts and position aside the degas bottle.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

9. Disconnect the cooling fan motor and shroud electrical connector.

10. Remove the bolt, stud bolt and the cooling fan motor and shroud.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

12. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

13. Fill and bleed the SC cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System.
