Removal and Installation









1. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to Restraint Systems.

2. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

3. If equipped, disconnect the steering wheel switches electrical connector.

4. Loosen the steering wheel bolt and install a suitable steering wheel puller.
- Install the 2 jaws of the puller into the 2 slots marked PULL.





5. Using a suitable puller, free the steering wheel from the steering column shaft.
- Remove the bolt and the steering wheel.

- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

6. NOTICE: Do not allow the clockspring to turn from its removal position or damage to the clockspring may occur.

Tape the clockspring center rotor to the outer housing to keep it from rotating.





7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
