Extension Housing Seal









Removal

1. WARNING: Before servicing a vehicle equipped with a fire suppression system, depower the system by following the procedure in Vehicle Jacking and Lifting. Failure to follow the instructions may result in serious personal injury.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Drive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints.

3. Using the Transmission Fluid Seal Remover and Slide Hammer, remove the extension housing seal.





Installation

1. NOTE: When installing the new seal, make sure that the drain hole in the seal is in the 6 o'clock position.

Using the Transmission Extension Housing Oil Seal Installer, install a new extension housing seal.





2. Install the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to Drive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints.

3. WARNING: If the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, repower the system. For important safety warnings and procedures, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.

Check the level of the transmission fluid. Add transmission fluid as necessary.
