Removal
CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the 3 bolts and the oil pump screen and pickup tube assembly.
^ Discard the O-ring seal.
Installation
1. CAUTION: Make sure the O-ring is in place and not damaged. A missing or damaged O-ring can cause foam in the lubrication system, low oil pressure and severe engine damage.
NOTE: Clean and inspect the mating surfaces and install a new O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil prior to installation.
Position the oil pump screen and pickup tube and install the bolts.
^ Tighten the oil pump screen and pickup tube-to-oil pump bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
^ Tighten the oil pump screen and pickup tube-to-spacer bolt to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
2. Install the oil pan.
