ISSUE
Some 2008 Focus vehicles built on or before 12/5/2007 may exhibit a concern of the interior front door closure handle pulling loose from the interior door panel. This may be caused by the attachment screw pulling through the door panel reinforcement.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
CAUTION
PULL THE FRONT DOOR PULL HANDLE SCREW COVER AT THE REAR OF THE FRONT DOOR PULL HANDLE SCREW COVER. OTHERWISE, DAMAGE TO THE FRONT DOOR PULL HANDLE SCREW COVER MAY OCCUR.
1. Remove the left hand (LH) front door pull handle screw cover. Pull the rear of the front door pull handle screw cover away from the door.
NOTE
LH FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL SHOWN, RIGHT (RH) FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL SIMILAR. (FIGURE 1)
2. Remove the two (2) front door pull handle screws and discard.
3. Install new fasteners to reattach front door pull handle.
4. Tighten to 27 lb-in (3 N.m).
5. Pull on front door pull handle to verify secure attachment.
6. Install front door pull handle cover.
7. Repeat for RH side.
