RATTLE NOISE - TRUNK AREA - VEHICLES
EQUIPPED WITH AUDIOPHILE SOUND SYSTEM

ISSUE
Some 2008 Focus vehicles equipped with Audiophile sound system, may exhibit a dull rattle noise from the trunk area when going over bumps or during high audio volume levels accompanied with heavy bass. This may be caused by the subwoofer cover.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove subwoofer cover from trunk area.
2. Measure down from top of cover 2 9/16" (64.7 mm). (Figure 1)
3. Measure across from curved radius over 6" (152 mm ). (Figure 2)
4. Drill a 13/32" (10 mm) hole on center of measurements. Use light pressure when drilling to prevent cover distortion.
5. Install subwoofer cover into position over subwoofer assembly.
6. Install new fastener pin to secure cover.
