Cooling System - Coolant Leak From Upper Radiator Hose

COOLANT LEAK AT UPPER RADIATOR HOSE
CONNECTION

2008 Focus
ISSUE
Some 2008 Focus vehicles built through 10/31/2007 may exhibit a coolant leak at the upper radiator hose to radiator connection area. This may be due to a cracked plastic upper hose clamp.
ACTION
Inspect and replace upper radiator hose clamp.
Refer to Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Inspect the plastic upper radiator hose clamp near the radiator connection for cracks/damage. If no cracks/damage is found, do not continue with this TSB, refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM) and perform normal diagnostics. If cracks/damage is found, proceed to step 2.
2. Relieve cooling system pressure following WSM, section 303-03 if necessary.
3. Remove plastic hose clamp.
4. Install locally obtained screw-type hose clamp onto the hose and tighten to 44-49 lb-in (5.0-5.5 N.m).
5. Refill cooling system following WSM, section 303-03.
