Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
FUEL RAILRemoval and Installation
WARNING:
- Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near fuel-related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
- Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
Disconnect the fuel tube quick release coupling from the fuel rail and position the tube aside.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect the 4 fuel injector electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector and vacuum tube.
5. Remove the 2 bolts and the fuel rail and injectors.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
6. CAUTION: Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel resistant material. Use of ordinary O-rings can cause the fuel system to leak. Do not reuse the O-ring seals.
If necessary, remove the fuel injector retaining clips and the fuel injectors.
- Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
7. NOTE: Install new O-ring seals and lubricate them with clean engine oil.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
